This week I have decided to feature an ancestor I know very little about. She was christened "Ann Susan Cooke" on 17th April 1834 at St Mary-de-Lode's in Gloucester. Her father, also born in Gloucester, was a bankers clerk. All I know about her mother is that she was called Mary and on the 1841 census was a "shopkeeper".
By the age of 17, Ann had become a milliners apprentice working in Chapel Street, Stratford upon Avon.
On 27th April 1855, having just reached the age of 21, she became the second wife of 30 year old George Blore, a coachman from the Kensington area of London. How she met him is a mystery.

As far as we know, they had five children, three daughters and two sons :
1856 Mary Ann Susan Blore
1861 Georgina (Anette) Blore ....... my great grandmother on my adopted branch
1863 William George Blore
1865 Annie Blore
1867 Frederick James Blore
They certainly moved about a lot, although always in the same general area of London.
In 1856 : 2 Cottage Place, Chelsea
1861 : 2 Crescent Place, Brompton
1865 : 198 Vauxhall Bridge Road, Westminster
1866 : 23 Bute Street, Brompton
1871 : 18a Queen Street, Kensington
1878 : 295 Fulham Road, Chelsea
1881 : 28 Hasker Street, Chelsea
George died in 1888. His occupation on his wife's death certificate says he was a horse dealer.
On both the 1891 and 1901 census, Ann was living with her daughter Georgina, and her family, at 51 Broomfelde Road, Clapham.
It was at her daughters house, 52 Thrale Road, Streatham that Ann died on 16th December 1908. The cause of death was senile decay, bed sores, gangrene and exhaustion ....... enough to kill anyone !
