When I went to the 'Who Do You Think You Are - Live' show this year, I went to a talk called "Write your life story" given by Michael Oke. It was one those interesting looking talks which filled in time between going to the 'must see' exhibits and having a pre-booked chat with an expert about one of my family photos. Anyway, I was so pleased I went as it gave me ideas for a whole new avenue to pursue once I have completed my trees and the SHIRE one name study I'm doing and ...... well, it will never happen of course, but it would be an interesting project to do if I ever did need something once I reach my later years.
My Life - it might not be today's family history but it will be in 50, 100, 150 years time. I know how much I wish I knew more about my parents lives to know that I really should write down what I've done, who I've done it with and what I haven't done that I should have done !
The last thing I want is for future generations to know me by my name, date of birth, date of marriage, who I married, and my date of death. Hardly the epitaph I would hope for. In the unlikely event that anyone is interested in me, the person, and want a bit of meat on the old bones they might like to know about -
The speaker suggested that married couples could write a book together. The first half would be their separate lives up to marriage, followed by a joint effort recording their life after marriage. Sounds like a great read which I can't wait to start writing !

In My Life - The Beatles
There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all.
